Description:

Primitive camping with a twist.  All the peace and quiet and privacy you love with primitive camping without the long hike into the forest.  Not for the out of shape, however.  You do have to hike to the top of the mountain to get to your piece of heaven!  A trail leads you through the woods and up the hill to a large field on top of the mountain.  There are several campsites along the way for those that aren't up to the full hike.  Once you're up there though, you won't want to come down.  The views are breathtaking and   . . .  did we mention the privacy?  We've added just enough amenities to make your "roughing it" camping experience not so rough.  We've placed barbecue grills and fire pits with grills in the Common Areas (no fire pits at campsite, but we allow small BBQ grills) as well as provide restrooms -- even if they are just portajohns, it still beats digging a hole.  We've got two horseshoe pits, one on the mountain and one by the stage.  For just $7.00 per person per day ($10.00 per person if a band is scheduled), you can't beat it!  We love kayakers.  The World Class Kayak Academy from Montana visited us for Gauley Season 2010.  See our website:  www.tawneyfarm.com for Rules and campsite descriptions.
